Musi River Overflows, Residents Of Palembang Welfare Are Flooded

Palembang City Government, South Sumatra is currently reviewing and recording flood-affected residents due to the overflow of the Musi River.

"Today there are 900 houses affected in the Keramasan Village area, Kertapati District, Palembang," said Palembang Mayor Ratu Dewa after reviewing the floods in Keramasan Village, Kertapati District, Palembang, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, January 27.

Data collection on flood victims carried out with the Chairman of the Palembang City DPRD Zainal Abidin was aimed at further handling and further assistance from both the city government and from the legislature.

Ratu Dewa explained that the flood in Palembang was caused by the overflow of the Musi River.

"I was invited by the Chairman of the Palembang City DPRD to review the residents affected by the rising river water, starting from the estuary of the Musi River plus shipments from the Ogan River, Lematang, Rawas River back to Palembang. Because this is a disaster around 900 families affected, we will provide assistance," he said.

He hopes that it will not rain in the near future so that the water will not get higher.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Palembang City DPRD, Zainal Abidin, said that the assistance to be provided was prioritized for basic food packages.

"A pressing assistance such as basic necessities, more on basic needs, namely rice," he said.

Regarding infrastructure in the flooded areas, Zainal said that his party had planned to make improvements.

"In this case, the DPRD for Electoral District 6 has budgeted for bridges that are submerged, maybe rehabilitation will be carried out later," he concluded.
