Read The Election Law On The President Can Campaign, Jokowi: Don't Withdraw It Everywhere!
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo asked all parties not to throw hot balls with a negative interpretation of his statement about the president being allowed to participate in campaigning in the election.
When responding again to the polemic at the Bogor Palace, West Java, Jokowi said that the president's statement that he could campaign was contained in the law.
"It's all clear, really. Once again, don't pull it anywhere. Don't let the celebration go anywhere, I only convey the provisions of the legislation because I was asked," Jokowi said in a YouTube broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat, Friday, January 26.
Jokowi has also prepared papers with the captions Article 299 and Article 281 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections. Explanations about the president being allowed to campaign were also covered in blue and yellow as a form of affirmation for reading.
"I convey the provisions of the legislation, I show this. Law Number 7 of 2017 clearly states in Article 299 that the president and vice president have the right to carry out campaigns," he explained.
The father of the vice presidential candidate number 2, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, also read out the contents of Article 281 which was clearly written in the paperprint he was holding.
In its rules, campaigns and elections that include the president and vice president must meet the provisions, not use facilities in positions except security facilities, and undergo leave outside of state dependents.
"That's what I convey the provisions regarding the Election Law, don't draw it anywhere," he continued.
