Prabowo And The Indonesian Bishops' Conference Agree On Peaceful Elections

JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto together with Cardinal Suharyo Hardjoatmodjo and the management of the Indonesian Bishops' Conference (KWI) agreed that the 2024 General Election must be honest, fair, peaceful, and harmonious

The three of them expressed their attitude after meeting for approximately an hour at the Indonesian Bishops' Conference office in Jakarta, Friday, January 26.

"The point is that everything is unity and there are many things under the title of unity, namely honest elections, said by Mr. Prabowo himself, peaceful, fair, and so on," said the Archbishop of Jakarta Cardinal Suharyo during a press conference after the meeting, quoted by ANTARA.

During the meeting, Prabowo was accompanied by members of the Steering Committee of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) Hashim Djojohadikusumo, while Cardinal Suharyo was accompanied by the Chairperson of the Presidium of the Indonesian Bishops' Conference, Mgr. Antonius Subianto Bunjamin, who is currently also the Bishop of Bandung.

Prabowo, at the same press conference after the meeting, conveyed directly his determination to keep the election contestation polite.

Prabowo also conveyed directly the vision, mission, and programs that would be realized if he and Gibran were elected in the 2024 presidential election.

"We were given the opportunity to convey our intention, our intention, to run in the upcoming elections. We also conveyed our vision and mission book," he said.

Prabowo also said that he received advice from Cardinal Suharyo.

"We are committed to a polite, peaceful contestation, and many times I explain and again I explain in front of KWI that I adhere to whatever belief is happening, the most important thing is unity and harmony among all Indonesian people, especially those that must be pioneered, given examples by the elites, Indonesian leaders," he said.
