Worried About The KKB Terror, Sugapa Residents Who Evacuated To The TNI Post Increased To 500 People

JAYAPURA - Head of Information for Kogabwilhan III Colonel Gusti Nyoman Suriastawa said the number of residents of Sugapa District who fled to Yonif 330/TD Post continued to increase due to the shooting carried out by armed criminal groups (KKB) in the area.

"The number of residents who fled to Yonif 330/TD Post continues to grow and currently there are around 500 people from six villages, namely Holomama Village, Sobilai, Mamba Atas, Amaisiga, Jalai, and Yokatapa. Most of those who fled were women, children and parents," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 25.

The community's arrival at the TNI post was due to fear of further terror accompanied by the burning of houses and persecution by the KKB after KKB members were shot dead.

Residents asked for protection from the TNI-Polri apparatus and currently their condition is safe.

"From the reports received apart from the TNI post, residents fled to the houses of community leaders," he said.

KKB has been reported since Friday (19/1) carrying out attacks by shooting at TNI-Polri posts in Sugapa.

In that incident, a Brimob member died. Seven members of the KKB were shot, four of whom were killed.

Currently, the security situation is relatively conducive, but members of the TNI-Polri continue to be on standby.
