Can Compete With YouTube, TikTok Tests 30 Minutes Video Uploads
JAKARTA TikTok, a subsidiary of ByteDance, is famous for its short vertical video format. Although this format is more popular with users, TikTok wants to present a new breakthrough.
Currently, TikTok is testing a longer video format. Based on the findings of the Social Media Consultant, Matt Navarra, as reported by TechCrunch, TikTok can upload 30-minute videos in both vertical and horizontal formats.
Initially, TikTok only supported the video with a duration of 15 seconds. After the user continued to grow, the duration was extended gradually from one minute, three minutes, ten minutes, 15 minutes, until finally 30 minutes.
This duration extension shows that TikTok wants to compete with YouTube. If the duration of this video can be the equivalent of YouTube, TikTok may be able to attract more people to join their platforms.
The demand for TikTok to compete with YouTube is even more visible after the company added horizontal video capabilities on their platform. This capability was launched earlier last year.

Just like YouTube, the original display will be vertical. However, after the user clicks on the full screen button at the end of the video, TikTok will switch to the full screen and the video format will turn horizontal.
Although the extension of the duration on TikTok can attract more users, keep in mind that TikTok is synonymous with short videos. Some users may not like the capabilities that are being tested.
However, this update is still uncertain because this capability can be withdrawn at any time by TikTok. It is also not known whether this longer duration will be rolled out widely throughout the country.
