The Economist Survey: Prabowo In The Top Rank, Followed By Ganjar Then Anies Baswedan
Presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto outperforms presidential candidate number 3 Ganjar Pranowo and presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan in a survey published by British media, The Economist.The survey titled “ Who Will Be the Next President of Indonesia? ” it released Prabowo ahead with 50 percent, while Ganjar followed in second place with 23 percent, and Anies at last with 21 percent."If no one wins more than 50 percent in the first round, the contestation will resume in June," wrote The Economist as quoted via Antara, Thursday, January 25.The survey was the result of monitoring The Economist on January 16, 2024.Consistently, The Economist conducted a survey of the electability of the Indonesian presidential candidates since January 2023.In the graph displayed, The Economist said that Prabowo's electability has experienced an increasing trend since early 2023; Ganjar, who was in first position in early 2023, experienced a downward trend; while Anies fluctuated.On the survey page, The Economist also added a brief profile of presidential candidates. Prabowo is mentioned as a presidential candidate who will continue the legacy of the development of the Seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and adhere to the “Jokowinomics ”.Meanwhile, Ganjar is written as a friendly technocrat and relies on the success of the grassroots campaign. Meanwhile, Anies is said to be a former governor of DKI Jakarta who has experience in foreign affairs and wants to increase Indonesia's influence in the region.Previously, the Indonesian KPU had determined the participants of the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections (Pilpres), namely the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md. serial number 3.
The KPU has also set a campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, then the voting schedule will be on February 14, 2024.
