Patimban Port Is Expected To Be A Center Of Gravity For West Java And Central Java
JAKARTA - Patimban International Port has become a new epicenter in economic and industrial development outside Jakarta which is expected to boost the wheels of the new economy, especially in the Tambourine Area which includes Cirebon, Subang, and Majalengka areas.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained that not only is it profitable in the logistics sector, the operation of Patimban International Port also opens investment opportunities for port supporting efforts.
The development of Patimban Port provides changes in local economic potential, including the opening of employment opportunities in the infrastructure sector and opening up opportunities for MSMEs, especially those engaged in the culinary and inn sectors.
The port is a tool for a growing economy. Around the world, no port city does not progress. Therefore, Patimban and Subang will certainly become the centers of Indonesia's new economic growth," he said in a discussion on Patimban and the Future of the Economy based on his official statement, Thursday, January 25, 2025.
Airlangga said that Patimban Port will be very strategic in the future because it is also supported by supporting infrastructure such as Kertajati Airport and toll road access.
In addition, Airlangga emphasized that the Patimban International Port which will be connected to the port access toll road also supports the reduction in logistics costs because it accelerates travel time from Industrial Estates to ports.
According to Airlangga, this also has an impact on the efficiency of fuel use and reducing transportation costs by increasing the frequency of the distribution of goods.
Airlangga hopes that Patimban Port can become a center of gravity for Central Java and West Java. And can export directly at a lower cost, and cheaper.
"Because our competition is not only with ourselves, but also with other countries. For other countries, logistics costs are less than 10 percent, Indonesia is only targeting 8 percent in 2045," said Airlangga.
