OJK Calls Learning Financial Literacy A Must
JAKARTA - Chief Executive of the Behavior Supervisory of Financial, Education and Protection Business Actors of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Friderica Widyasari Dewi said that learning about financial literacy is a must.
"Whatever your dreams are, learning about financial literacy is a must because this will greatly help prepare the future and prevent various dangerous traps, and can affect all of you in achieving or achieving your goals," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 23.
According to him, every student, especially students who major in the economy, will definitely understand business management to financial services. However, if a student takes, for example majoring in engineering, then it should also be equipped with knowledge of financial literacy and inclusion.
That way, every student who will enter the world of work can have a career with a high salary because they are able to manage finances well and do not fall into debt, so that life is more prosperous.
"A lot of problems today are due to late of financial literacy. Brothers and sisters read a lot of cases, yes, a lot of things happen around us because people don't understand financial literacy," Friderica said.
Seeing the various problems related to financial literacy and inclusion, OJK provides many programs for young people to people with disabilities so that they get financial welfare. One of them is to include discussions on literacy and financial inclusion into teaching materials in a number of campuses.
"So if there is an economic campus, there is a portfolio theory and an investment analysis, for example like that. Then in high school we have taught this financial literacy, but it is not yet a subject for itself, but thank God it has entered. (Day group) I also met Pak Nadiem, Mr. Minister of Education and Culture (education, Culture, Research, and Technology) also said that this is very important for financial literacy for young people," he said.

On the same occasion, Chairman of the Indonesia Banking School (IBS) Kusumaningtuti S Soetiono appreciated the various efforts of the OJK to always educate and increase the financial literacy of student groups.
Through educational activities held on IBS, he also hopes that the younger generation can understand financial products and services, as well as be aware of illegal investments, illegal online loans, and online gambling that can cause losses.
