2 Perpetrators Of Thief Bags Filled With Diamonds Belonging To Doctors In Rappocini Makassar Arrested By Police

Makassar Police Team arrested two perpetrators of theft accompanied by violence or robbery after seizing the victim's bag containing diamonds, cellphones and laptops, on Jalan Rappocini Raya, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"These two perpetrators were arrested in Gowa Regency. From the statements of the victims of the items confiscated by the perpetrators, they amounted to Rp250 million," said Makassar Police Chief Kombes Mokhamad Ngajib during the case exposure reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 22.

Two robbers, Daeng Nojeng (45) and Rustam (32), used two-wheeled vehicles to commit crimes on January 19, 2024, on Jalan Rappocini. At that time the victim was threatened by the perpetrator with a sharp weapon.

"The perpetrator committed violent theft threatening the victim with a samurai when he got out of the vehicle, then forcibly took the victim's bag. The two perpetrators rode together in action," said the police chief.

After snatching the victim's bag, the perpetrator immediately fled on his motorbike. The victim, who works with this doctor, then reported the incident to the Rappocini Police for legal action by pursuing the culprit.

"Some of the looted perpetrators have been confiscated and the rest have been enjoyed by the perpetrators. Both have been named as suspects after admitting their actions," said Ngajib.

From the results of police interrogation, the perpetrators are recidivists and specialists in cases of theft accompanied by violence. They claimed to have committed their actions five times in different locations, namely twice in Makassar City and three times in Gowa Regency.

Currently, the two perpetrators are languishing in the prison cell of the Rappocini Police for further legal proceedings. Both are suspected of under Article 365 and are threatened with a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
