Gibran: Downstreaming Is The Key But Must Protect The Environment
JAKARTA - Candidate for Vice President number 02, Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized that together with Prabowo Subianto, he will continue the Downstream program. He said, downstreaming is the key for Indonesia to be able to get out of the middle income trap.
This was conveyed by Gibran as his closing statement in the fourth debate of the 2024 presidential election which took place at the JCC, Sunday, January 21.
I will never get bored discussing downstreaming. With downstreaming, we will get out of the middle income trap. With downstreaming, we will increase added value in the country. With downstreaming we will open the widest possible employment opportunities," said Gibran.
However, Gibran said, in its implementation, aspects of the environment, sustainability and social must also be considered.
The impact of climate change is getting more real, floods, drought, sea water rise is a real threat and is already in sight. All these problems are challenges of today's era, requiring the solution to the current challenges is how we look for a midpoint, a balance point," said Gibran.
Gibran also emphasized that the question in the future is to continue downstreaming but also need to protect the environment.
