Speaking Of Change, Anies Shares Alexis' Close Experience

Presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan said changes could occur in Indonesia because there is authority from policy makers.

"If we want to change, then we need the authority," said Anies in an inaugural grand campaign oration at Batako Pinang Square, Tangerang City, Banten, Sunday.

Anies stated that on February 14, 2024, the people were given the opportunity to give authority. Therefore, he asked that the authority of the people be given to candidate pair number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (AMIN).

He explained that the authority of the people can determine cheap education costs, cheap health, cheap basic necessities, and easy-to-access employment opportunities.

"On February 14, we have to make sure, God willing, in Banten we will not only win, but we must win big," he said.

Anies shared his experience when he was governor of DKI Jakarta since 2017. At that time, there was an entertainment venue called Alexis. The entertainment venue was protested by the public and asked to be closed because of the practice of prostitution.

"Alexis is a place of immorality, protested, everyone asked to close, demos, demonstrations can never be closed. She (Alexis) has an insider, has a backing and cannot be closed," said Anies.

Then, continued Anies, in 2017 there was a change of governor of DKI Jakarta. After that, Alexis could be closed without demonstrations and without protests. Just use a piece of paper and a signature.

"That's called authority," said Anies.

The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia has determined three participants in the 2024 presidential election, namely the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD number 3.

The 2024 election campaign period will take place from 28 November 2023 to 10 February. After the campaign period, there was a calm period on 11-13 February. Then, the voting schedule took place simultaneously on February 14, 2024.
