Bali Is The Choice Of Chinese Tourists On This Year's Chinese New Year Holiday

JAKARTA - Bali is one of the destination options for Chinese tourists at the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration. Based on data on the search for China's Airbnb from January 1, 2023 to September 30, 2023 to stay abroad during winter with a check-in date between December 22, 2023 and February 29, 2024.

According to Airbnb data as written in a press statement on January 18, there have been significant changes in the interest of Chinese tourist visits to various international destinations since travel restrictions were lifted.

This can be seen during the Christmas and year-end holidays, school children's holidays, and the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations. Of the ten countries most searched for during the winter period, Indonesia is in seventh position, with Bali as the most sought-after destination.

The country's first most searched ranking was Thailand, then Japan was in second place, then New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and Malaysia were ranked third to sixth, respectively.

Then, Indonesia is in seventh place, followed by the UK, Norway and South Korea are in eighth place to nine.

Speaking of tourist destinations in Southeast Asia, Chinese tourists tend to travel before or during Chinese New Year celebrations. The peak increase was 14 times compared to the previous year, for the check-in period 8 - 18 February 2024.

They also tend to come in groups or with their families. Looking at more specific data on visits to certain areas, Bali occupies the fourth position with the highest search volume during winter among the top 20 cities.

Meanwhile, Phuket, Thailand occupies the first position as the most searched destination, followed by Bangkok, Thailand in second place, and Queenstown, New Zealand in third.

Bali is said to have its own attractiveness for international tourists with its tropical beauty, amazing natural scenery, and unique cultural wealth.

To attract more visitors, the Government recently introduced Visa Multiple Entry which allows tourists to visit Indonesia several times within five years.

On the other hand, Airbnb also conducted a survey of 900 Chinese tourists, which Kantar carried out in June 2023.

The data shows the preference of Chinese tourists in choosing accommodation when traveling abroad prioritizing reliability (89 percent), facilities (84 percent), customer service (80 percent), uniqueness (80 percent), location (56 percent), privacy (56 percent), and ease of ordering accommodation (45 percent).
