Bawaslu Purworejo Calls The Case Of Campaigning For Minors Has Been Handled By The Police
JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Purworejo Regency, Central Java, said the police had handled a campaign video content case with two minors who were still in school uniform.
"Now the case is with the police. It has been upgraded to the investigation process," said the Coordinator of the Purworejo Bawaslu Violation Handling Division, Rinto Hariyadi, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, January 20, 2024.
Rinto further explained that according to the mechanism, the case was handled by Bawaslu for 14 days. Furthermore, it was delegated to the police.
The police have 14 days to complete the case file. Then, the case will be transferred to the court for trial, where the court has seven days to decide.
Meanwhile, currently the legislative candidate (caleg) with the initials MA in the video is waiting for the trial process in court. The case will soon be tried to confirm the status of his candidacy.

According to Rinto Hariyadi, the cancellation mechanism as a list of permanent candidates (DCT) will go through a fixed and binding decision mechanism by the court. Then, the follow-up to the cancellation was carried out by the KPU, not Bawaslu.
"When it comes to canceling as a legislative candidate, it has not been carried out," he said.
"Waiting for the court to decide. If the verdict is guilty and inkrah, his status as a legislative candidate will be canceled at the DPT," said Rinto again.
As is known, Bawaslu Purworejo obtained a video from the TikTok application which was allegedly the result of downloads from the TikTok account registered with the KPU as the official account @kangabdullah72. The location of the content is located in Sejiwan Tegal Hamlet or the Nongko River intersection, Trirejo Village, Loano District.
"The video contains campaign elements involving two minors, who do not yet have the right to vote. One of them is making an invitation to campaign for one of the legislative candidates," said Rinto.
According to him, the information received by Bawaslu Purworejo, one of the actors in the content is suspected to be the son of one of the Purworejo Regency DPRD candidates. The child clearly invites the public to choose the Supreme Court in the 2024 General Election on TikTok social media accounts.
The Supreme Court candidate is suspected of violating Article 280 paragraph (2) letter k of the Election Law and Election Provisions Article 493 of the Election Law which reads, "Every election and/or campaign team that violates the prohibition, as referred to in Article 280 Paragraph 2 k, shall be punished with a maximum imprisonment of 1 year and a maximum fine of 12 million."
