UK To Ban Epic Games To Sue Apple Fortnite

JAKARTA - The UK anti-monopoly agency banned the developer of Epic Games, continuing a lawsuit against Apple regarding the game Fortnite. They considered the case to be better resolved in the United States (US).

Quoting from Reuters, Tuesday, February 23, the United Kingdom Court rejected the file demands for Epic Games to proceed to Apple and Google. This is because the registered application store location is in the US.

As is known, Epic Games and Apple have had problems since last year until the end of the Fortnite game not being published on the App Store. The game's developer launched its own in-app payment system that was incompatible with the App Store's 30 percent fee enforcement provisions.

Responding to the court's decision, Epic said he would consider the order.

"Epic will reconsider continuing the case against Apple in the UK after the outcome of the case in the United States," Epic Games said.

While Apple and Google did not comment on this court decision in the United Kingdom.

A federal court judge in California, United States, last October issued an order that Apple could block Fortnite from the App Store, however, it shouldn't interfere with the developer tool Unreal Engine, software used by hundreds of other developers.
