Investigate Bribery Of Officials From German Companies, KPK Has The Opportunity To Issue An Investigation Order

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has the opportunity to issue an investigation warrant for alleged officials at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and Bakti Kominfo to receive bribes from a German company, SAP.

The interim chairman of the KPK, Nawawi Pomolango, said that this possibility was open after the collection of evidence and information was carried out.

"(About, red) I have asked the Director of Investigation and I have also asked the Director of Public Complaints and Reports (PLPM) of the KPK to immediately carry out a kind of pulbaket (collection of information) on that," Nawawi told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, January 17.

Nawawi asked all parties to wait for the results of the pulbaket. This process is certain to be running.

"And maybe in the future if they apply for a kind of investigation warrant, the important thing is that from the pulbaket they find things related to the SAP," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata said the anti-corruption commission had received general information regarding this allegation. The Director of Inter-Commission and Agencies Network Development (PJKAKI) received documents, including approval for the agreement to postpone prosecution.

Then the anti-corruption commission has also obtained documents related to the securities exchange in the United States. Meanwhile, for more detailed documents, it will only be requested after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) wrote to the KPK.

"And that's all if the documents will later be used as evidence in the trial or investigation, we will follow up with a mutual legal assistance (MLA) mechanism," he said.

"We will coordinate so that we can use the documents obtained by the FBI or SEC for handling investigations, investigations, and also later prosecutions at trial," continued Alexander.

Allegations of officials in Indonesia accepting bribes from German companies, the SAP were published in an official statement from the US Department of Justice, Thursday, January 11.

SAP is required to pay more than 220 million US dollars in the form of fines or administration for bribery cases to government officials in South Africa and Indonesia.

It is stated that money and political contributions, electronic transfers, as well as luxury goods purchased when shopping are given.

Giving is intended to obtain bad business benefits between companies and several ministries or institutions in Indonesia.

The government officials in Indonesia in question are suspected of being in the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the Center for Telekomunikasi and Informatics Financing Providers (BP3TI) or the Bakti Kominfo.
