Mahfud Explains Why The Koran Teacher Program Gets A Salary: They Have Printed A Minister To The President

JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president number 3, Mahfud MD explained the reason why he and presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo initiated the 'Teacher of Gaji Gets a Salary' program that will be carried out if they win the 2024 presidential election.

Mahfud considers that Koran teachers have great services in giving birth to a superior generation. Many Koran teachers are great figures. This is the basis for the presidential and vice-presidential candidate pairs to glorify Koran teachers, madrasas teachers, and religious teachers.

This was conveyed by Mahfud after attending the declaration of the East Java National Teacher Mahfud (MGB) volunteer at the East Java International Expo (JIE) Convention Exhibition, Surabaya, East Java, Saturday, January 13.

The Koran teachers have scored great cadres. What they have taught is that they have become ministers, become professors, become DPRs, and even become presidents. That's what teaches them that from pesantren," said Mahfud.

Mahfud assessed that currently Koran teachers have not received attention from the government. Not a few Koran teachers teach with modest honorariums. In fact, among the many Koran teachers, Mahfud said that there are those who are only given honorariums of no more than Rp. 200 thousand per month.

"But until now they have not paid a salary. Sometimes the salary is only Rp. 150,000, paid once every six months. Sometimes it is not paid either, sincerely," said Mahfud.

Therefore, Ganjar-Mahfud carries the program of Ngaji Teachers to Get Salaries, where religious teaching staff can get a fixed salary from the government. So that they can feel welfare.

Then we will program their welfare so that we give them a minimum income. If for example BLT a month Rp. 300 thousand, why can't one million Koran teachers get one month. There must be funds for that," he explained.

Previously, Mahfud said the Koran Teacher's program to get salaries applies to all religions. "We have a program and definitely have money, just manage it, which is to give permanent fees to all Koran teachers, including non-Muslim teachers, religious teachers, given," said Mahfud at Darut Tauhid Canga'an Bangil Islamic Boarding School, Pasuruan Regency, East Java.

Mahfud then confirmed that he would give salaries to Koran teachers, but there are several indicators that will be assessed before the Koran teacher is given a salary by the government.

"But if it's not yet and it's officially an educational institution, Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, please submit it. Later we will have the size of the place, how many students, what kind of teacher to teach, how many hours a week we count to pay," he added.
