The KPK Will Investigate Information From The US Department Of Justice Regarding Indonesian Officials Receiving Bribes

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that information from the United States Department of Justice regarding officials suspected of accepting bribes from German companies will be investigated. They will examine the details of the information.

"We just heard about the information. Of course we will then, the information is because we are also committed to institutions and law enforcement globally. Of course, we will explore the information later," said Deputy Chair Nurul Ghufron to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, January 12.

After receiving the information, the KPK will examine who the official in question is.

The United States government website said the officials came from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the Center for Telekomunikacy and Informatics Financing Providers and Management (BP3TI). However, it was not conveyed who they were.

Ghufron confirmed that the information would be investigated. Moreover, if it has been proven by the US Department of Justice, the company is committing bribes, it means that the KPK can move.

"Because if there is a decision that the German side has committed corruption to companies and to officials, one of which is Indonesian officials, of course it is part of the KPK's authority to follow up," he said.

"Later we will explore it first (the information, ed)," concluded Ghufron.
