Solo City Government Prepares Circular On The Prohibition Of Dog Meat Sales, But Can't Take Action Yet
SOLO - The Surakarta City Government has prepared a circular (SE) regarding the sale of dog meat which is still rife in a number of locations.
Head of the Surakarta City Agriculture, Food Security and Livestock Service, Eko Nugroho Isbandijarso, said that the new rules or prohibitions were limited to being regulated through SE.
"This is from the Director General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health as well as the Department of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health, Central Java Province, which will be lowered to the city level," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 12.
Considering that it is still regulated through the SE, the ban is only an appeal so that no action has been taken.
"In the province, it is also only an appeal not to make sales," he said.
Asked about the plan to have a Surakarta Mayor Regulation to regulate the sale of dog meat, he admitted that so far it has not been realized.
"The rules above don't exist yet, if you make a regional regulation above it, there must be. The center has not issued a PP or ministerial regulation so there is no basis that we can implement, then it is limited to making a SE," he said.

Regarding the rules that have been implemented, until now it is only an explanation at the shop so that people are not fooled.
"From the beginning, there were rules, it must be clear. This means that there is an inscription on rica guk. This is still ongoing, so that people are not fooled by the term, if you check it, it is indeed from dog meat," he said.
