Fishermen's Exchange Rate Reaches 105.40 Throughout 2023, Minister Of KP: They Remain Poor
JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said the exchange rate of fishermen throughout 2023 reached 105.40 and the fish cultivators' exchange rate reached 104.92.
Minister Trenggono said that this achievement has not represented the welfare of fishermen and cultivators.
"They are still poor. There are formulas if we fill in the numbers, they end up being poor," Trenggono said at the 2024 KKP Priority Outlook and Program at the KKP Building, Jakarta, quoted Thursday, January 11.
Trenggono assessed that fishermen and cultivators could only be declared prosperous if the exchange rate had reached 200-300.
He said that this figure could be achieved through government intervention through several programs, one of which was the construction of fishing villages.
"Development of a developed fishing village, we will change it in total, such as in Biak, Papua. Obviously there is a proper dock facility, there is an ice factory that is suitable for the benefit of one village," he said.
