Many Unofficial Couples Found, Surakarta Ministry Of Religion Holds Mass Marriage

Surakarta City Ministry of Religion Office held a mass wedding reception which was attended by 9 couples. Head of the Surakarta City Ministry of Religion Office Hidayat Maskur said the purpose of the activity was made to inaugurate a couple's marriage which had not been legally registered so far.

"There are still many married people found but it has not been said to the Civil Registration Service. We want promotions that every marriage must be registered," said Maskur, quoted from Antara, Thursday, January 11.

The consent was held at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque as part of an effort to develop tourism promotions.

"Even the mosque can be used for wedding places, so that with the mosque being used for the wedding place, we hope that guests from anywhere or brides from anywhere can use facilities in Surakarta City," he said.

Regarding the couple who took part in the event, the oldest age is 60 years, while the youngest age is 27 years.

"We invite those who are allowed to take part in this mass marriage to at least 25 years. This means that they understand well in the marriage process, so that in the next process they can tread the household properly and correctly," he said.

One of the married couples, namely Krismiati (47), a resident of Sriwedari and Suwito Villages (58), a resident of Pucanendalit. The widow and widower got married after getting acquainted through social media Facebook.

He said he was happy to finally officially get married with being facilitated by the Surakarta Ministry of Religion Office.

"The plan is to get married in June this year," said Krismiati.
