Pelni Supports Full Law Enforcement Of The KPK Investigate Allegations Of Corruption

JAKARTA - PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) or Pelni is ready to cooperate with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in law enforcement efforts on alleged corruption cases.

Pelni responded to the alleged corruption case for the 2015-2020 fiscal year which was being investigated by the KPK.

The Head of the Pelni Company Secretariat, Evan Eryanto, ensured that Pelni would fully support law enforcement efforts carried out by the KPK.

"We fully support and are ready to work with the KPK to enforce the law as applies in this country," said Evan as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 9.

As a state-owned company, Evan said that in running his business, Pelni greatly emphasized the principles of integrity and professionalism to all employees.

This attitude was also strengthened by AKHLAK, which is the main value of the company consisting of trust, competence, harmony, loyal, adaptive, and collaborative.

"In daily life, we use AKHLAK's main value as a guideline for all employees to have a positive mentality of serving and being strong in avoiding negative practices that are against the law," he said.

Meanwhile, to enforce good corporate governance, Pelni also has a set of rules related to preventing corruption.

These rules include customer reporting guidelines for washing systems and gratification control guidelines and gratuities control units.

Pelni has also implemented ISO 37001:2016 on the Anti-Bribery Management System (SMAP) and always cooperates with the KPK by conducting anti-corruption values socialization for all employees.

One form of Pelni's management's commitment to upholding anti-corruption attitudes, among others, is by dismissing employees who were proven to have carried out illegal collections for Pelni ship passengers in 2023.

"Current management does not hesitate to take firm action if there are unscrupulous employees who commit the slightest acts of corruption. We hope that all employees can show high integrity and provide excellent service to the community, especially Pelni ship service users," said Evan.

The KPK announced that it would start an investigation regarding the alleged corruption case at PT Pelni for the 2015-2020 fiscal year.

"We confirm that it is true that the KPK has now started the process of investigating cases of alleged corruption in commission payments for shipping insurance owned by PT Pelni (Persero) for the 2015-2020 fiscal year," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri, at the KPK's Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Tuesday.

Ali revealed that during the investigation, KPK investigators applied articles on state financial losses with a fictitious payment mode.

"It is suspected that there was a fictitious payment for the provision of the project which resulted in state financial losses reaching tens of billions of rupiah," he said.

Ali said insurance services suspected of being fictitious are related to Marine Hull insurance (submerging insurance guarantees, capsized, burned from the frame and contents of the ship) includingwreck removal and pollution insurance (an insurance guarantee for the appointment of sunken ships and marine pollution).

"The chronology of the alleged corruption, who are the parties designated as suspects and the articles that are suspected will be conveyed when the process of collecting evidence is sufficient," said Ali.
