West Java Police Seize 11,394 Brong Exhausts Ahead Of The Open Public Meeting Campaign

BANDUNG - West Java Regional Police (West Java Police) have confiscated 11,394 noisy exhaust rods or Brong exhausts during the operation which was carried out from December 1, 2023 to January 7, 2024.

Director of Traffic of the West Java Police, Kombes Wibowo, said that the action against motorized vehicles with noisy exhausts will continue to be carried out massively ahead of the open public meeting campaign which will be held starting on January 21.

"We want to ensure that open campaign activities are really safe and conducive and road users can use the road safely," Wibowo said in Bandung as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 9.

According to him, the operation and enforcement of non-standard exhausts were due to complaints from the public because they were disturbed by the noise from the exhaust.

He said that his party had also imposed sanctions against violators by police officers to replace the Brong exhaust with a standard exhaust.

People are quite disturbed by the existence of Brong exhausts on the streets. Problems can be triggered quickly due to provocations," he said.

In addition, he said, the use of noisy exhausts will also cause air pollution, noise pollution, and can also increase exhaust emissions that can threaten public health on the highway.

"This Brong exhaust exhaust emission is higher than the standard exhaust, so that the air pollution produced is higher if there are more Brong exhaust users. This is the air we breathe every day," he said.

He said the West Java Regional Police also continued to be committed to taking action against noisy exhaust violations to create safety and smooth traffic (kamseltibcarlantas) ahead of the open campaign in the 2024 election to be conducive in the region.

"The entire ranks will take several steps, from preventive to last resorts, namely law enforcement. To this day we are still implementing it and we will concentrate on it," he said.
