During The MUI Certification Process, The TOUS Les JOURS Shop Prohibits Making Sayings On Cakes

JAKARTA - Netizens were outraged after seeing a post on social media that said the Korean bakery, TOUS les JOURS prohibited buyers from adding Christmas greetings or anything deemed not in accordance with Islamic law.

After this ban was popular on social media, TOUS les JOURS clarified it. They posted this clarification on their official social media pages on Friday, November 22. In their clarification, they said that this prohibition was not an official rule from the management of TOUS les JOURS.

"In carrying out our business activities in Indonesia, we strongly prioritize tolerance for ethnic, religious, racial, cultural and / or inter-group diversity," they wrote, as seen by VOI on its official Facebook page. On the last point, TOUS les JOURS apologizes for the prohibition which has caused inconvenience.

Intrigued, the VOI Team then visited the TOUS les JOURS branch at Pacific Place, South Jakarta. The shop is what warganet calls a display prohibiting adding words that are not in accordance with Islamic law.

Around 14.00 WIB we arrived in front of the bakery. Several buyers were seen lining up at the cashier on the left side of the shop. While the cashier at the front is empty. We also observed that there was no prohibition written on the display case, which displayed various flavors of cakes. This writing is replaced by the types of tarts they sell.

We asked a cashier who was on guard regarding the ban. According to the cashier, the ban was only valid for one day on Thursday, November 21 yesterday. However, this prohibition is not without cause.

"Yesterday, only a day, not allowed. Because there is a halal certification inspection," he said when we visited.

The cashier explained that the inspection also checks the quality of food sold by TOUS les JOURS.

As for the photos circulating on social media, he suspects that they were spread by shop visitors. He also regretted that this had led to misunderstandings in the community.

"That's just a misunderstanding of people who take photos, even though it's only one day," he said.

As of today, after the ban has been lifted, anyone who wants to add a greeting to the cake they ordered is allowed. "Now it's okay. Just now someone ordered. Some were videoin instead," he concluded.
