Police: Saipul Jamil's Assistant Is Not A Police Officer
The police stated that the person who was banging on the windshield of Saipul Jamil's car, hit his assistant and said rude words during an arrest near the TransJakarta Jelambar Bus Stop, West Jakarta, on Friday, January 5 afternoon, not a police officer.
"After we 'cross-check' the three investigators who were at the TKP and also the video, they are not our members," said West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol M Syahduddi at a press conference at the Tambora Police, quoted from Antara, Saturday, January 6.
The police have seen the video footage. "Yes, so we have seen the video showing, who knocked on the car window, who hit the suspect S and also cursed in harsh language," he said.
He added that several individuals who took part in the arrest were those who wore maroon red jackets and jackets that read "POLICE", not police officers.
"And if it's shown the video, there are people who use a red 'hoodie', if I'm not mistaken, it's after we cross-checked it, it's not the police," he said.
There were also people who wore jackets that read "POLISI" at the location of the arrest of Saipul Jamil. "It also turned out to be not a member of the Tambora Police," he said.
The West Jakarta Metro Police are researching and investigating this matter. "We are also investigating this, so we have sent Propam to conduct an examination and deepening related to the incident," said Syahduddi.
Syahduddi added that the pursuit and arrest of the car driven by Saipul Jamil was also attended by members of the community who were furious because the car had hit several motorized vehicles during the pursuit.
"Because of that, when there were vehicles that behaved unnaturally on the road and hit several other motorized vehicle drivers, an initiative emerged from community members to pursue them," said Syahduddi.
This is also being investigated by the Police. "So we are currently conducting an investigation process as well," said Syahduddi.
Saipul Jamil was arrested by the police near the TransJakarta Jelambar Bus Stop, West Jakarta, on Friday, January 5 afternoon, and tested negative for taking drugs even though his assistant was positive for narcotics.
