Yakob Sayuri And Elkan Baggott Learn A Lot From Trials, Want To Be Better In The 2023 Asian Cup
JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team has twice held trials during the training camp (TC) in Turkey to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup.
In two games against Libya, the Garuda squad lost. First, lost 0-4 and the second match lost 1-2.
However, the Indonesian national team learned valuable lessons from the two matches. This was revealed by one of the players, Yakob Sayuri, who became the only goal scorer for the Garuda Squad against Libya.
"I appreciate the hard work of my friends in the match and maybe seeing themselves in the match against Libya are still mistakes made, both individuals and as a team," Yakob said.
"My performance still has a lot of shortcomings to fix, both from attack and defense. I have to learn again through video matches."
"For those who are good, it will continue to be improved and what is lacking, I will fix and improve again in training," said Yakob after the match.
Yakob further considered that the Indonesian national team had experienced developments during TC in Turkey. According to him, the Garuda Squad only needs to increase the chemistry of fellow players so that the team will be more solid.
He hopes that the team's performance in the 2023 Asian Cup can be maximized and consistent. There are still a few days ahead to fix the shortcomings while at TC.
"Personally, conditions are much different from before. We focus on physical and tactical. Physically it increases and continues to grow. In two trial matches, the physical is getting better. The chemistry is just getting better."
"Hopefully in the next few days before the 2023 Asian Cup we can be even more active for all of them and appear more consistent in the Asian Cup," said Yakob.
