KAI Responsibility Of Education Costs For Children Victims Of Train Accidents In Bandung
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will bear the educational costs of children victims of train accidents (KA) in Cicalengka, Bandung Regency, until their education is completed.
President Director (Managing Director) of PT KAI Didiek Hartantyo said the four accident victims who were employees, namely Julian Dwi Setiyono (28-masis), Ponisam (47-masis), Ardiansyah (30-prama), and Enjang Yudi (Polsuska), had been recorded for their rights.
"We have calculated this number and we will convey it later, but we will give it according to the rights concerned. KAI also provides through the foundation, namely scholarships to the children of the deceased who are still in school until they finish school or college," said Didiek at the Head Office of PT KAI, Bandung, quoted from Antara, Saturday 6 January.
This, said Didiek, was not a substitute, but as a love line that revealed that PT KAI was saddened by the accident.
"This accident is also a reminder for all of us in improving train safety. We are committed to improving safety so that incidents like this will not happen again in the future," he said.
Jasa Raharja himself stated that according to the Regulation of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia Number 15 of 2017, the deceased received compensation of Rp. 50 million which was handed over to the heirs, then the treatment fee (guarantee letter) of a maximum of Rp. 20 million which was paid to the hospital where the victim was being treated.
Meanwhile, PT KAI in its statement will provide compensation to the victims who died in this accident, amounting to Rp. 87,546,452 to the driver on behalf of Julian Dwi Setiyono and Rp. 96,365,655 to the assistant machinist on behalf of Ponisam.
Meanwhile, KAI Services provided compensation of Rp. 13 million each to Train Attendant on behalf of Ardiansyah and Security on behalf of Enjang Yudi.
It was informed that a train accident occurred between the Turangga Train (Surabaya-Bandung) and the Greater Bandung Commuter Line Train (Padalarang-Cicalengka) on the road plot between Haurpugur Station and Cicalengka Station on Friday (5/1) at around 06.00 WIB.
In this accident, PT KAI reported that four victims died, consisting of the driver, assistant driver, steward, and Polsuska who were on duty on the train.

Then, at least 33 people were injured and taken to four nearby hospitals, namely Cicalengka Hospital, Edelweis Hospital, AMC Hospital, and Santosa Hospital for treatment.
PT KAI also said that a number of train trips via the Operational Area (Daop) 2 Bandung were engineered to rotate or cancel the impact of this train collision accident.
The evacuation of the two unfortunate trains, said by PT KAI, had been successfully carried out in the early hours of Saturday and had been normalized and declared safe by the Daop 2 Bandung Road and Bridge team at 06.30 WIB.
Then the KA line was tested with two locomotives at a speed of 5 km/h at 07.28 WIB, which means that the route can now be passed at a limited speed.
