Train Collision In Cicalengka, Observer: Single Track Track Prone To Accident
JAKARTA - The accident between the Turangga train (KA) related Surabaya Gubeng-Bandung and the Greater Bandung Commuterline that occurred at km 181+700 plots of roads between Haurpugur Station-Cicalengka Station on Friday morning, January 5, left deep sorrow for the railway world in the country.
The reason is, the accident has caused at least four people to die.
Public Transportation Observer Djoko Setijowarno sees that until now there is still a single track on the railway line in Indonesia.
It also makes the route prone to accidents.
"Single track is indeed more prone to accidents than double tracks. Therefore, when dispatching trains from the station, you must be more careful. It is ensured that the track conditions will be passed in a train-free condition until the next station," said Djoko to VOI, Friday.
Djoko said, actually the double train line (double track) on the island of Java has reached 80 percent.
However, indeed the crossing around Cicalengka itself is still in the development plan which is targeted to be completed this year.
"This completion is partly a double track. However, it is necessary to investigate the operation at Cicalengka Station," he said.
