Strictly Competing With Toyota, GM In "Self House" Successfully Top Vehicle Sales During 2023
JAKARTA - A number of automotive manufacturers in the world have succeeded in closing 2023 with impressive results, one of which is General Motors (GM) which maintains the most car sales in the US. These results were achieved after the company competed with Toyota.
Based on a Reuters report on Thursday, December 4, the company based in Detroit, USA, earned sales of 2.6 million units during the 2023 period, up 14.1 percent from 2022. Thus, this is their best achievement since the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Toyota as a GM rival in Uncle Sam's country received sales of up to 2.26 million vehicles or an increase of up to 6.6 percent compared to 2022.
Overall, sales of the latest cars in the US in 2023 reached 15.5 million units. This includes a hybrid segment that reaches 17 percent, according to data released by Wards Intelligence. This is said to be the highest figure since 2019 and surpassed the sales score of 13.9 million units in 2022.
In addition to the hybrid vehicle market, EV cars also obtained impressive results during last year's period. GM managed to sell as many as 75,883 units of zero emission vehicles with 62.5 units of which were Bolts and 13,838 other vehicles were Ultium platform-based cars.
Meanwhile, Toyota managed to sell 657,327 units of vehicles consisting of hybrid and EV. 14,715 units of which are models of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) such as bZ4X and RZ 450e and contributed 2.23 percent of the year's total EV sales.

In addition to these two companies, automotive manufacturers such as Hyundai also reported an 11 percent increase in sales this year with 55,783 EV sales books. This positive trend was followed by companies such as Mazda and Honda which reported higher sales during that period.
