The North Kalimantan Provincial Government Is Still Waiting For The Decree Of The Minister Of Home Affairs Regarding The Acting Mayor Of Tarakan
TANJUNG SELOR - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara) is still waiting for the term of office of the Mayor of Tarakan to end on March 1, 2024 before inaugurating the Temporary Officer (Pj) of the Mayor of Tarakan.
Assistant for Government and People's Welfare of the Kaltara Provincial Government, Datu Iqro Ramadhan, said this was in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which granted part of the 7 regional heads' lawsuit, which objected to the forced term of office being completed earlier because of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections. This decision also applies to the Mayor of Tarakan, H. Khairul, as one of the plaintiffs.
"There are 7 regional heads who filed for it (the lawsuit), including the Mayor of Tarakan (dr Khairul). At the latest one month the position ends one month before the simultaneous Pilkada is held, so it is estimated that the mayor will be until March 1, 2024," said Datu Iqro Ramadhan, Thursday, January 4.

Datu Iqro explained that the candidate for Acting Mayor of Tarakan was determined by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) whose proposal was still in progress.
"The Governor of Kaltara has proposed three names to the Ministry of Home Affairs. In addition, there are also three proposals from the Tarakan DPRD," he explained without mentioning the three names that had been proposed to the Minister of Home Affairs.
Acting Mayor of Tarakan will still be sworn in when the mayor ends.
"So there is no vacancy in regional heads in Tarakan until before the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada)," he concluded.
