Residents Clash In Jayawijaya, 2 People Died
JAYAPURA - Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ignatius Benny Adi Prabowo, said the dispute between residents that occurred in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua, caused two people to die.
"From the reports received, it was revealed that the two bodies had been handed over to each family. The handover of the bodies due to the dispute that occurred in Mulai, Jayawijaya Regency was carried out Tuesday (2/1) in two locations, the first being delivered to Raboda Village, Asologaima District and the second to Muai Village, Hubikiak District," said Kombes Benny in Jayapura as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.
He said the escort of the two bodies was carried out by Acting Governor of Papua Velix Vernando Wanggai Mountains accompanied by Jayawijaya Police Chief AKBP Heri Wibowo, Dandim 1702/Jayawijaya Lt. Col. Cpn Atethianius Murip and Jayawijaya Regional Secretary Thonny M. Major.
"The delivery of the bodies is safe," he said.
Jayawijaya Police Chief AKBP Heri Wibowo explained that the dispute between community groups on Monday morning (1/1) began shortly after a traffic accident occurred in the Homhom area which caused the victim to die.
Then the victim's family attacked the alleged perpetrator, resulting in a fight between residents.
In addition to the two deaths, the dispute also resulted in four people being treated in the ICU room of Wamena Hospital, three people being treated in the emergency room, one person being treated in the surgical ward and eight people having been discharged from the hospital.

The situation at the location of the dispute in Musama Muai Village is currently conducive, but there has been a cross section in Arabode Village, Asologaima District and Manda Village, Bugi District.
"Security forces are still trying to ask residents to open the barrier," said AKBP Heri.
