2 People Died In Bus Restu Accident And Truck On Ngawi Toll Road, Evacuation Using Cranes

Two people died and a number were injured in a traffic accident at KM 567 section of the Ngawi-Solo Toll Road, Bangunrejo Kidul Village, Kedunggalar District, Ngawi Regency, East Java.

"The accident involved the Po Restu Bus with police number N-7223-UF and a tronton truck loaded with earth nail concrete," said Head of the Ngawi Police Traffic Unit, AKP M Sapari, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 3.

The two victims who died were the assistants of the two vehicles, namely a truck kernet named David Angga (30), a resident of Mojokerto and a bus kernet, Anugrah Arif (23), a resident of Pasuruan Regency.

According to the results of the temporary crime scene, the accident began when the bus containing a group of teachers from Malang driven by Muhammad Basri (48) drove from the direction of Ngawi to vacation in Yogyakarta.

The bus wants to overtake the tronton truck loaded with concrete earth nails with police number B-9148-BEA driven by Suwignyo, a resident of Mojokerto Regency.

"The teacher's group departed from Malang as many as three buses, but it turned out that one of the buses had an accident," he said.

Sapari explained that based on the crime scene processing, when the Restu Bus was about to overtake the tronton truck, it was suspected that the bus driver took too the bow to the left and hit the back of the truck and hit the concrete load of the earth's nails.

As a result, a number of concrete loads bounced to the front of the truck, causing the truck's steering cabin to be destroyed and hit the driver and the assistant.

"The temporary assumption is that this accident was due to negligence and lack of caution, Bus Driver Restu because it might lack focus and cause an accident to hit the back of the truck," said Sapari.

All bus passengers have been taken to the hospital for further medical treatment.

Meanwhile, joint police officers and Jasa Marga had difficulty evacuating the bodies of the two large vehicles which took more than six hours until noon.

Officers also need the assistance of a "crane" vehicle to lift the bodies of the two vehicles and the concrete of the earth's nails from the edge of the toll road.
