Supporting Tourism Recovery, Garuda Indonesia Officially Becomes Official Airline For The 38th Golden Disc Award
JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (GIAA) officially became the official airline in the 38th Golden Disc Awards. This is a support for efforts to accelerate the recovery of national tourism, especially in bringing foreign tourists to Indonesia.
The 38th Golden Disc Awards is the biggest music award event in South Korea to be held at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) on Saturday, January 6, 2024.
Garuda Indonesia's support as the official airline also coincided with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and South Korea, as well as in line with the success of the Golden Disc Awards which had previously been held in a number of countries such as Japan, China, Malaysia, and the last in Thailand where this music award event will be the first time in Indonesia.
Through its role as the 38th official airline Golden Disc Award later, Garuda Indonesia will support the smooth running of the event, especially through the operation of additional flights on the Jakarta Seoul route which will be operated on January 7, 2024, in supporting public interest and accessibility needs that will be present on the agenda.
President Director of Garuda Indonesia Irfan Setiaputra explained that the implementation of the 2024 Golden Disc Awards is a strategic step for Garuda Indonesia in aligning the Government's commitment to accelerate the process of national tourism recovery as well as to represent the Company's spirit in presenting air connectivity that connects the main destinations of service users both domestically and internationally.
"By prioritizing flight services that provide typical Indonesian hospitality ranging from pre-flight, in-flight to post-flight, it is hoped that Garuda Indonesia's support for the Gloden Disc Award will not only be able to provide seamless flight experience for passengers, but can also be a momentum for the peak recovery of the Indonesian tourism sector in introducing Indonesia in the eyes of the global community, especially for South Korean music fans to enjoy various choices of leading destinations in Indonesia through safe and comfortable flight services," said Irfan quoting a written statement, Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Currently, Garuda Indonesia serves direct flights to and from Korea through the two largest cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta and Bali 8 times each week. Furthermore, in line with the growing global tourism activity, Garuda Indonesia will also gradually plan to increase flight frequency on routes that are a preference for the community, one of which is the Seoul Denpasar pp route from 2 times a week to four times a week starting in December 2023 to meet the increase in travel requests from Seoul to Denpasar.
The Seoul Denpasar flight schedule will later be served with GA 871 and departs from Incheon International Airport at 11:35 LT and arrives at Denpasar's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport at 17:45 LT. Meanwhile, Denpasar - Seoul flights will be served with GA 870 and depart from Denpasar at 00:00 LT and arrive in Seoul at 09:15 LT.
