OJK Boss Says Foreign Investors Are Starting To Return To Developing State Finance Markets
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Mahendra Siregar said several global economic indicators are starting to show improvement so that they have the opportunity to create buying or buying foreign investors in 2024.
Mahendra menyampaikan adanya perbaikan ekonomi global akan membuat penguatan pasar keuangan global dan mendorong penurunan volatility di pasar saham, surat utang, maupun nilai tukar.
"Foreign or non-resident investors are starting to return to the emerging market financial market as a net buyers," Mahendra said at the Inauguration of the 2024 Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Trading Opening, Tuesday, January 2.
Menurut Mahendra, pada tengah 2023 aksi jual (net sell) investor asing cukup tinggi, namun pada akhir tahun 2023 investor asing kembali mencatatkan aksi beli setelah The Fed memberikan sinyal akan dovish.
Mahendra said that in the midst of the hope of buying and selling foreign investors next year, the number of domestic investors also needs to be increased.

As for the end of 2023, the number of investors in the capital market through Single Investor Identification (SID) reached 12.13 million, where the number of new investors reached 6.4 percent of the productive age population in Indonesia.
IDX data recorded that in 2019 the number of investors was 2.4 million SID, followed by 3.8 million SID in 2020. In 2021 the number of investors increased to 7.4 million SID, and 2022 by 10.3 SID.
Mahendra said to increase the potential of domestic investors, his party continues to strive to maximize the integrity, credibility, Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and consumer protection of the entire ecosystem of Indonesian capital market players.
