Labor Party Holds Action In Bawaslu Because Of Allegations Of Intimidation To Advanced Cadres Of Candidates

JAKARTA - The Labor Party held an action in front of the Indonesian Bawaslu Office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, today. They demanded justice for the Labor Party candidates for alleged discrimination by companies, both BUMN, BUMD and private."Present to the anxiety of party administrators and legislative candidates in various regions in Indonesia, because constitutional and human rights are limited, namely the prohibition on entering politics and the right to politics is limited by BUMN and BUMD as well as private companies," said Chairman of the Labor Party National Campaign Team, Said Salahudin when delivering the oration, Tuesday, January 2.In fact, according to Said, DCT (Recent Candidate List) has been determined that there is no other way for a candidate not to proceed, unless the legislative candidate dies. He gave an example of a case in Magelang where a janitor in an agency was asked to resign to become a legislative candidate in the Labor Party."If he doesn't resign he will be fired," said Said.According to him, since the decision of the Constitutional Court Number 011-017 / PUU-I2003 was issued, dated February 24, 2003, the Constitutional Court has firmly stated that the constitutional rights of citizens to politics (political rights), especially the right to be elected are rights guaranteed by the constitution."The court's decision is, among other things, based on the provisions of Article 28C paragraph (2) of the 1945 Constitution which states that everyone has the right to advance itself in fighting for their collective rights to build society, nation and state," he said.Based on that, the Labor Party urges Bawaslu to issue an appeal to government agencies, both BUMN or BUMD, and private companies not to prohibit and intimidate workers or laborers who are members of the board, including legislative candidates.
The Labor Party also asked Bawaslu to guarantee political freedom to workers or laborers.
