After The Ishikawa Prefectural Earthquake, The Indonesian Embassy In Tokyo And The Indonesian Consulate General In Osaka Urge Indonesian Citizens In Japan To Beware Of Tsunami
JAKARTA - After a magnitude 7.4 earthquake hit Ishikawa Prefecture on Monday afternoon, January 1 local time, the Indonesian Government through the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo and the Indonesian Consulate General in Osaka had issued an appeal for Indonesian citizens in Japan to remain alert to aftershocks and tsunamis.
"We urge Indonesian citizens to always monitor information and directions from local authorities," said Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and BHI of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha, quoted from ANTARA.
"The tsunami warning along Japan's western coast has not been lifted until tonight Japan's time," he stressed.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said, is currently coordinating with the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo and the Indonesian Consulate General in Osaka to determine the impact of the earthquake and tsunami.
The Indonesian Embassy and the Indonesian Consulate General are also coordinating with local authorities and Indonesian community nodes.
"The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo has recorded 1,315 Indonesian citizens living in Ishikawa Prefecture," said Judha.

The earthquake that occurred at 16.10 p.m. Japanese time or 14.10 p.m. local time was also felt in the villages of Niigata, Toyama, and Fukui, Nagano, Gifu, Tokyo, Yamagata, Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Shizuoka, Aichi, Mie, Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Nara, Tottori, Iwate, Miyagi, and Akita.
The earthquake has caused tsunami waves in several areas.
