Car Dragged 5 Meters Struck By Train At Unofficial Crossing Martapura-Sungaituha Region
MARTAPURA - A Panther car driver was hit by the Babaranjang Train (KA) while crossing the railroad crossing on the Binjai River, Veteran Jaya Village, Martapura District, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Timur Regency today."This accident occurred this afternoon at around 14:15 WIB," said East OKU Police Chief AKBP Dwi Agung Setyono in Martapura, Antara, Sunday, December 31.The police chief said that the brown Panther Car with Police number BG 1591 YA driven by M Fadil Fajar (30), a resident of Cidawang, Martapura District, East OKU was struck by a babaranjang train from Lampung to Baturaja, OKU Regency.As a result of the incident, the vehicle driven by the victim was dragged five meters and fell into the residents' rice fields until it was heavily damaged.The victim himself suffered injuries to the back of the head, bruises on the right side of the eye and had to be rushed to the Martapura Hospital for medical assistance."The victim was immediately taken to the Martapura Hospital for help. Currently, our personnel are still investigating the crime scene at the accident site," he said.Meanwhile, KAI Public Relations Manager Divre IV Tanjungkarang Azhar Zaki Assjari separately said that the incident occurred at the unofficial crossing of KM 199 + 1 between Martapura-Sungaituha train stations.He explained that the incident occurred when the KA 3066 (Baratuhan) of the Tarahan connection to Tigagajah was walking from the direction of Martapura Station to Sungaituha Station.Before passing the crossing, he said, the driver of KA 3066 had already sounded 35 times the horn/subling of the locomotive to remind that there would be a train that would pass.
"This is what we always remind motorists to be careful when crossing a level crossing. Prioritize train trips by stopping for a moment if there are trains that will pass," he said.
