Ahead Of The Substitution Of The Year, Sumedang Was Rocked By A 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake

SUMEDANG - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that tectonic earthquakes again rocked Sumedang Regency, West Java.The 4.8 magnitude earthquake occurred at 20.34 WIB with a depth of 5 kilometers. The epicenter was at a location of 6.85 degrees south latitude and 107.97 east longitude."The epicenter was on land 2 kilometers northeast of Sumedang Regency," said the official BMKG report quoted in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Sunday, December 31.The earthquake shock was felt by residents with a Modified Mercalli Intensity or MMI scale measuring III to IV in Sumedang, scale III in Lembang, scale II to III in Subang and Bandung, and scale II in Garut.Throughout the afternoon until tonight, Sukabumi Regency has been hit by three earthquakes.The first earthquake occurred at 14:35 WIB with a magnitude of 4.1 with a depth of 7 kilometers, the second earthquake occurred at 15.38 WIB with a magnitude of 3.4 with a depth of 6 kilometers, and the third earthquake occurred tonight at 20.34 WIB with a magnitude of 4.8 with a depth of 5 kilometers.
BMKG appealed to the public to remain calm and not be influenced by issues that cannot be justified. The public is also asked to avoid buildings that are cracked or damaged by the earthquake.
