6.5 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Northeast Of Kobagma Papua
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 rocked the northeast of Kobagma, Papua Mountains at 00.16 WIB, Sunday.
BMKG in Jakarta, Sunday, December 31 noted that the earthquake was centered on land, precisely at coordinates 2.89 south latitude and 139.44 east longitude or 95 km northeast of Kobagma with a depth of 30 km.
The BMKG said that this earthquake was felt in Jayapura City with an MMI III-IV intensity scale (modified mercy intensity), meaning that during the day people felt it in the house, outside by several people, pottery broke, windows/doors pulsed and walls rang.
