A Week Of 2023 Candle Operations, 91 People Died As A Result Of Accident

JAKARTA - Until the seventh day of the 2023 Police Candle Operation, 91 people died and 55 other victims suffered serious injuries due to traffic accidents.

"Data on traffic accidents occurred as many as 470 incidents, with details of 91 deaths, 55 serious injuries," said the spokesman for the 2023 Candle Operation Police, Kombes A. Maladi, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, December 30.

The data is the accumulated number of traffic accidents since the first day of the 2023 Candle Operation on Saturday (23/12) to Friday (29/12).

In addition to the victims who died and were seriously injured, in the accident it was also reported that 489 other victims suffered minor injuries.

"We urge those who will go home and return to ensure that they are physically healthy and check the vehicle, take advantage of the rest area to rest," he explained.

Meanwhile, for comparative data on vehicles entering and leaving Jakarta, the number continues to increase.

For vehicles leaving Jakarta via the exit of the Cikampek Utama Toll Road heading to Transjawa, Friday (29/12), 00.00-23.59 WIB, 28,208 vehicles were recorded.

This is inversely proportional to the number of vehicles entering Jakarta through the lower entrance to the Cikampek Utama Toll Road, which reaches 21,233 vehicles.

"Volume in and out of Jakarta via (Toll) Kali Urip Utama towards Bandung has at most reached 32,199," he added.

In general, he ensured that the security and public order situation (kamtibmas) during the 2023 Candle Operation was under control.

"Kemtibmas kejahatan sebanyak 815 kasus, pelanggaran 54 kasus, bencana non-natural satu kasus, gangguan ketertiban lalu 15 kasus, serta kejadian menonjol sebanyak 23 kasus; secara umum terkendali," ujar Maladi.
