Chairman Of The Indonesian KPU Calls For Professional And Transparent Work

Chairman of the Indonesian General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asy'ari called on all his staff at the central to village and sub-district levels to hold the 2024 General Election with a transparent, professional, and accountable attitude.

"On this occasion, we would like to convey a message to our provincial KPU friends, district and city KPUs, and ranks to be continued at the TPK, PPS, and TPPS levels so that they can work professionally, transparently, accountably, and improve the quality of service to voters," said Hasyim Asy'ari after attending the National Consolidation Meeting in the context of the 2024 General Election Preparedness at Istora Senayan, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, Saturday.

Hasyim said that this transparent and professional attitude will help election organizers improve service quality for voters to exercise their right to vote and also participate in the 2024 General Election to compete.

In addition, each officer is expected to maintain integrity. If the officer experiences difficulties or an emergency situation that cannot be resolved alone, then Hasyim asked the officer to immediately proceed the incident to the central level to be resolved.

"We ask that we immediately report to the regency and city KPU to be reported to the provincial KPU and also reported to the central KPU, so that it can be resolved, find a way out," said Hasyim.

On this occasion, Hasyim said the KPU had collaborated with the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to strengthen the governance of information technology systems (IT) at the KPU.

"The KPU IT system for electoral services, we are supported by several campuses that do build the information system. Likewise, we are supported by government units that are one task force that provides support to the KPU in order to strengthen system information governance," said Hasyim. Previously, in the consolidation meeting, President Joko Widodo reminded all components of the 2024 election organizers to avoid technical negligence that could have political implications and disrupt the state's conducive situation.

The availability and distribution of logistics also needs to be considered properly, including support for system readiness and technology.

"Be careful about this, we have to pay attention to small things in detail, because technical negligence can have political implications, it can have political implications that can spread everywhere," said Jokowi.

He also reminded that in today's digital era, it is a challenge that must be addressed by every election organizer in order to avoid inaccuracies in services that can disrupt the legitimacy of the election results.

"Certaining the reliability of the information system and election support devices must function properly, must be transparent, open, do not let hacking occur. Be careful about this, because this can have political implications, it can have political implications," said Jokowi.

He also emphasized the 2024 General Election as an order for laws that have complex challenges, but must still be carried out as well as possible through certainty of governance to the readiness of officers in carrying out their duties.
