Acting Governor Of West Java Asks Local Governments To Anticipate New Year's Waste Piles

BANDUNG - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Kalioni Machmudin asked local governments and regencies in his area to anticipate piles of garbage as a result of the celebration of the New Year's Eve 2023 to 2024.

"For this reason, we ask the mayor and regents to remind them to prepare waste places and also remind the public not to litter," said Bey at Gedung Sate Bandung as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, December 30.

Bey realizes that the emergence of a population of garbage has the potential to be unavoidable due to the accumulation of people celebrating the new year 2024 in various regions.

Therefore, he asked regional heads to immediately step down after the New Year's celebration was held.

"So later maybe I ask all regional heads to date one morning to immediately review all areas in their area," he said.

Especially for the Greater Bandung area where the Sarimukti TPA is unable to accommodate waste, Bey said that his party is trying to carry out processing at temporary waste disposal sites.

"In connection with Sarimukti, we are trying to make waste processing carried out at TPS-TPS," he said.

At the moment of the turn of 2023 to 2024, the West Java Provincial Government confirmed that it would not hold a celebration event, but Bey indicated the possibility of conducting a review in several locations.

"There's no event, maybe around," he added.
