11 Stations That Implement Boarding Face Recognition, How Is The Data Security?
YOGYAKARTA PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has added to the station implementing Boarding Face Recognition. Currently, PT KAI has increased the number of stations with a boarding face recognition facility to 11 points.
KAI Vice President Public Relations Joni Martinus explained that there are two new train stations that are now equipped with a boarding face recognition technology, namely Purwokerto Station which was installed on Saturday, December 23 and Madiun Station which was installed on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.
As is known, the Face Recognition Boarding Gate is a new facility owned by KAI which is useful for assisting the identification process as well as validating the identity of prospective passengers. The process is carried out through a camera that detects the passenger's face. The camera is connected to passenger data ranging from ticket to vaccination status.
The existence of Face Recognition Boarding Gate technology makes it easier for prospective passengers so they do not need to show an ID card or other identity card. In addition, prospective passengers also do not need to print a boarding pass so that it is enough to pass the scanner and direct their face to the camera. If the prospective passenger data is appropriate, the door will open automatically.
Currently, the implementation is still limited at 11 stations. The following is a list of stations that have implemented Face Recognition Boarding Gate technology.
The data security of prospective passengers using KAI's Boarding Face Recognition service has become a topic of conversation. Related to this, KAI's EVP Corporate Secretary Raden Agus Dwinanto Budiadji explained that the data security stored for the face recognition feature is safe.

Quoted from Antara, KAI itself has a much better information security management. Even KAI has implemented the ISO 27001 International Standard Information Security Management System on Information Security Management Standardization. As a manager, KAI also routinely improves data security such as name, NIK, and so on.
"People don't need to worry about data security in the face recognition feature used, because KAI already has good information security management," explained Raden Agus Dwinanto Budiadji in Jakarta.
Agus explained that passenger data such as name, NIK, and photo of customers are stored in KAI infrastructure. The data will also only be used in the boarding process via Face Recognition Boarding Gate. The data will be stored within 1 year. After that the data will be deleted systemally.
Not only that, passengers have the right to submit a request for deletion of their personal data at any time after registering with the Access by KAI application. Users can also apply for deletion of personal data through KAI Customer Service officers at the station.
To be clearer, the public is advised to know what KAI's Face Recognition Boarding is and how to use it.
