LPS Strict Actions On Perpetrators Related To Fictitious Credit Applications

JAKARTA - The Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) has taken firm action against the perpetrators of banking crimes, namely the former President Director of PT Bank Perekonomian Rakyat Cita Makmur Lestari, Tangerang (BPR Citama) regarding the fictitious credit application made in the period January 2011 to March 2015.

"As a result of the fraud carried out by the former President Director of BPR Citama, it caused BPR Citama to experience liquidity difficulties and revoked its business license by the Financial Services Authority on December 18, 2015," said Secretary of the LPS Institution Dimas Yuliharto, in Jakarta, Wednesday, December 27.

Dimas said that a series of case examination processes on November 15, 2023, the former President Director of BPR Citama had been legally and guilty of committing a criminal act intentionally creating or causing false records in bookkeeping or reports or in documents or reports of business activities, transaction reports/bank contracts.

As a result, the former President Director of BPR Citama was sentenced to 7 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 billion, subsidiary to imprisonment for 2 months.

Even so, the convict's attorney is known not to have made an appeal, so the Tangerang District Court's decision is also declared to have permanent legal force or inkracht.

Furthermore, as a form of LPS's commitment to law enforcement and providing a deterrent effect, LPS has also reported several failed bank managers suspected of committing Banking Crimes (Tipibank) or Money Laundering (TPPU).

Among them are several bank administrators, former administrators of PT BPR Bina Dian Citra, Bekasi and PT BPR KS Bali Agung Sedana, Bali and PT BPR Sewu, Bali including parties working with bank administrators or employees and enjoying the fraud results.

"LPS is serious about taking firm legal action against rogue bank administrators in the hope that management and all levels of banking shareholders in carrying out their duties and functions can meet the principles of prudence and implement good governance to maintain the trust of banking customers in Indonesia and create a healthy economy," he concluded.
