Ponpes Nurul Huda Banten Fire, BPBD Calls The Trigger For An Electric Short Circuit
The fire that hit the Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School Dormitory (Ponpes) in Sawah Village, Sukanah Village, Baros District, Serang Regency, Banten, Tuesday, was successfully extinguished and did not cause any casualties. Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Serang Regency, Nana Sukmana, said the fire broke out when the students of Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School would perform the Fajr prayer at around 04.00 WIB.
"We received a report of the fire from the boarding school management to the Damkar BPBD Serang Regency," he said in Serang, Banten, Tuesday, December 26, which was confiscated by Antara. He said the fire was allegedly caused by an electrical short circuit, and sparks grabbed flammable material so that the fire grew. "There was an electrical short circuit, suddenly the fire had grown when the students were about to carry out the Fajr prayer which resulted in a badly damaged dormitory building," he said.

Nana said the fire was extinguished with a water pump unit with a capacity of 5,000 liters at Nurul Huda Islamic Boarding School. The fire was extinguished only at 08.00 WIB and cooling was carried out. "The fire was successfully extinguished, there were no casualties in this incident," he said.
However, as a result of the fire, the loss is estimated at around Rp720 million.
