Palembang LRT Station Collision Truck Incident Not Disturb Operational
The South Sumatra Light Train Management Center (BPKARSS) said the single traffic truck incident hit the west side of the Hajj Dormitory LRT Station, Palembang City, not disturbing the operation of the light train mode of transportation service.
Head of BKARSS Rode Paulus in Palembang, Saturday, said that based on information from South Sumatra LRT security officers, the incident occurred at around 09.30 WIB.
The position of the car at the time of the incident was on the side of the road to the airport.
Shortly before crossing under the LRT Station of the Hajj Dormitory, the truck was suddenly lifted and hit the bottom of the station.
After that, the car swerved to the right and hit the station pole.
As a result, the damage to the aluminum compound panel (ACP) of the station and the incident attracted the attention of the public so that congestion was unavoidable.
"At the time of the incident, officers in the field were immediately launched. Incidentally, at the same time we were carrying out the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 monitoring posts and the officers were immediately alert," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Sunday, December 24.
Based on the information gathered, he said, apart from a team from BPKARSS and PT KAI, assistance also came from the police.
The police conducted a crime scene to ascertain the cause of the incident, the impact, and collect witness statements.
"No casualties were caused. Everything is safe and under control," he explained.
Temporary suspicion from the police, the accident occurred because the truck was suddenly open so that the driver could not control the speed of the vehicle.
"After all the evacuation processes are complete, we will carry out a thorough check of the damage caused by the incident. Fortunately, this accident has no effect on the operations and services of the South Sumatra LRT," he said.
