UM Surabaya Lecturer Reminds The Public Of The Threat Of Hoaxes Post-Debat Candidates
University of Muhammadiyah Surabaya (UM Surabaya) Media and Culture Study lecturer Radius Setiyawan reminded the public regarding misinformation or disinformation (hoax) due to the proliferation of images and videos on social media after the debate of the vice presidential candidate (cawapres).Radius in Surabaya, Saturday, December 23, assessed that the inaugural debate of the vice presidential candidate was exciting and fierce. The three vice presidential candidates are quite aggressive in attacking their opponents, even these debates are considered more exciting than the debate of the presidential candidate. "Each candidate raises trapped questions. Attacking is inevitable. For me, in the debate it is normal. Apart from the vice president, what is no less fierce is the debate of supporters on social media," said Radius. He said, supporters of candidate pairs are trying to make a framing of the narrative submitted by the candidate. But it is not uncommon to also attack opponents with aframing negative. "If we look at social media after last night's debate, various video pieces or images are distributed, and each piece is given meaning in accordance with interests. Of course this will lead public opinion and have a strong influence," said Radius.
