Mahfud MD Opens Up About Land Distribution
JAKARTA - Vice Presidential Candidate Mahfud MD said that many lands in Indonesia are controlled or obtained by collusion or conspiracy against the law.
"We will see the facts on the ground, how many lands are currently obtained in an unclear collusion," said Mahfud during the 2024 Cawapres Debate, Friday, December 22.
Mahfud revealed the facts regarding Cak Imin's question regarding how to realize social justice starting from equitable ownership of land access and land.
"Cak Imin has been discussing for a long time since Bung Karno's time issued the Land Reform Law which until now has not worked even though the law is still ongoing. I say this is the problem for our law enforcement discipline officers," replied Mahfud.
He explained that this was his concern to improve the land distribution scheme to the community so that the land distributed did not let those who received it were those who were not entitled.
"We will see the facts on how much land is obtained by collusion and it is not clear why I have been criticized. Sir, why is this, why is this government now that the land is not clearly handed over to everyone, the people don't get it. I asked where the list of land went to the Ministry of Defense, where the problem is and who this must be brought under control, especially since this land has been for decades, the country has been silent," he said.
Meanwhile, Mahfud brought up the data submitted by Prabowo Subianto regarding the inequality of land ownership in the 2024 presidential election vice presidential debate.
"If the data I've heard from Pak Prabowo a few years ago, 1 percent of the population controls 75 percent of the land, 99 percent of the population is fighting to manage only the remaining 20 percent of the land, it's lame," he said.

Therefore, Mahfud emphasized that these even distribution efforts must continue to be carried out and this condition must be brought under control.
Especially now that the land is occupied by other parties.
"It has been occupied for decades that the country has been silent, even if it wants to be forgiven yesterday, it was given a tax amnesty," he said.
Mahfud emphasized that people who control land and do not pay taxes should be sentenced to a crime.
