Nissan To Produce Electric Cars In China And Export It Around The World
JAKARTA - Japan's leading automaker, Nissan, announced its plans to sell electric vehicles developed in China globally.
Reporting from the ArenaEV page, Tuesday, December 19, Nissan appears to be following in BYD's footsteps with the intention of offering Chinese-made electric vehicles in the same country and region.
"Nissan is currently developing and producing future electric vehicles in China," said Masashi Matsuyama, President of China's Nissan.
On the same occasion, Nissan also announced its intention to establish a joint research center with Tsinghua University next year, focusing on developing electric vehicles, including charging infrastructure to battery recycling.
"We hope this collaboration will help us understand the Chinese market better and develop strategies that can meet the needs of customers in China," said Nissan Motor Corporation CEO, Makoto Uchida, as quoted from Nissan's official website.

For information, Nissan's sales in China decreased to 20 percent during the first 10 months, compared to the same period last year which reached 33 percent. Therefore, this step is expected to be a solution to improve the company's performance in the market.
Nissan also emphasized its commitment to sustainable development and its contribution to a cleaner, safer, and inclusive society. Cooperation with Tsinghua University is expected to enable Nissan to develop strategies in the era of electrification and smart mobility, as well as contribute to sustainable development and its global commitment.
