KPU Preparations Ahead Of The First Candidate Debat, December 22: Format, Moderator, Podium, To Orderly Calls
YOGYAKARTA Preparations for the KPU ahead of the inaugural vice presidential debate continue. The 2024 presidential candidate will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). The event will be attended by three vice presidential candidates, each Muhaimin Iskandar, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Mahfud MD.
As is known, the themes that will be carried out in the vice presidential debate are the people's economy, the digital economy, finance, tax investment, trade, APBN/APBD management, infrastructure, and urban areas. To support the event, there are several things that are prepared, namely as follows.
The KPU ensures that the vice presidential debate format will not change from the presidential candidate format which will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. Related to this, KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari explained that the debate will be held at the Jakarta JCC.
"And as we have participated together in the first debate, the presidential candidate debate, the debate format will be exactly like that, so there are 6 segments," explained Hasyim.
Each segment has a different designation, namely the following.
In contrast to the presidential candidate debate, the KPU vice presidential candidate plans to provide a podium. The existence of the podium is a follow-up to the evaluation carried out on the previous presidential candidate debate. As is known, in the previous presidential candidate debate there was no podium until it became the spotlight not only from the community but from each candidate team.
The KPU also presents moderators and panelists. There are two moderators of the vice presidential debate, namely Alfito Deannova (Trans Corp) and Liviana Cherlisa (Compas TV). As for panelists, there are 11 people with different backgrounds. 11 panelists of the vice presidential debate, namely as follows.
The KPU also evaluated order during the previous presidential debate. As is known, the gesture of vice presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka was in the spotlight for the action he took during the presidential candidate debate. He was seen standing, shouting, and applause provoked the audience who were present to cheer to encourage the presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto. Related to this, the KPU requested that each team not repeat such a gesture.
Like the previous presidential candidate debate, the duration of the vice presidential debate is also not much different, namely 150 minutes. While the special duration of the debate is 120 minutes consisting of 6 segments.
"So the duration is exactly the same, for example when asked a question by a panelist, the vice president candidate who will answer is given the opportunity to answer for about 2 minutes," explained Hasyim.
The duration of inter-cawapres questions is also no different from the duration set out in the presidential candidate debate. Each vice presidential candidate will get the opportunity to ask questions for one minute, while the duration of the vice presidential candidate answering the question is two minutes.
The vice presidential candidate will get two minutes to respond to other vice presidential candidates.
"And then each vice presidential candidate who is not asked a question will ask questions to each vice presidential candidate as a form of deepening 1 minute each," explained Hasyim.
"And then the vice presidential candidate who was asked the question earlier, the opportunity was to answer the response or question from each vice presidential candidate for a two-minute chance," he continued.
