300 Houses In Kaltara Get Free Electricity Installation
TARAKAN Governor of North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Zainal A Paliwang handed over assistance for new pairs of free electricity to 300 heads of families (KK).
"This assistance is not only a form of fulfilling the government's obligation to provide electricity. But also as a concrete form of state presence through access to energy for all levels of society," he said, Monday, December 18.
The 300 electricity network installations in residents' houses included 35 houses in Tarakan City, 75 houses in Bulungan Regency, 70 houses in Nunukan Regency, 60 houses in Malinau Regency, and 60 houses in Tana Tidung Regency.
"The provincial government realizes that many poor households in this area are still not electrified from PLN. However, we are still trying to fulfill one of these basic needs," he said.
For this reason, the local government initiated a program to install and connect electrical installations for free, providing convenience to families who want to enjoy electricity but have difficulty paying new tidal costs.
"This program is part of the government's efforts in equitable access to electricity, making electrical energy a basic need for the entire community," he said.
Based on data, it is stated that the free electricity new install assistance program has been going on for 4 years. In 2023, the government again allocated this assistance to 300 poor households spread across every district and city in North Kalimantan.
Tarakan City is one of the focuses with an allocation of 35 households, while other districts such as Bulungan, Nunukan, Malinau, and Tana Tidung also get their respective parts.

The governor explained that the household receiving assistance will get 3 lights, 1 stop contact, and an electric meter with a power of 900 kVA.
"This assistance reflects the provincial government's commitment to providing electricity services to the entire community, especially those living in remote and remote areas," he said.
The governor said that his party gave appreciation to PT. PLN (Persero) which has actively assisted in installing meters for each beneficiary family head.
Appreciation was also conveyed to the district and city governments as well as the heads of RT and RW who also supported this program by facilitating the formation of community groups to submit a proposal for free electricity assistance to the Governor.
"I hope that the assistance provided can be utilized as well as possible and can improve the standard of living of the local community, which will have a positive impact on village governments, district governments, and ultimately make North Kalimantan Province change, progress and prosper," he said.
